Thank You for Laughing at the Gallows
It's been a great hang.
I’d like to thank all of you for reading this Substack, especially those of you who joined the “paid” option. I have enjoyed it for all three years and 150+ posts and dozens of unpublished drafts.
I turned 50 this year1 and, while I’m perfectly healthy, I’m aware that I don’t have forever. I want to focus on stuff that is growing and, much as I love writing this way, this Substack just isn’t growing. I will be turning off the payment processing.
I’m thinking about ways to repackage this — late capitalist satire — into youtube videos. Here’s why I think there might be life in YouTube even though it’s owned by the capitalistest of capitalists:
Comedy Zola
A year ago I started a new YouTube channel called Comedy Zola. I have a lot to say about how writing should be done, I think I can be helpful to people just starting out, and I am mad as hell about what the “manosphere” dingdongs have done to the concept of comedy.
The channel is gaining subscribers and patrons and I’m thrilled about both. I’d love to have you as either if you’re so inclined.
Long story shart, I want to say thank you for the reads. It pleases me no end. I’ll be working on how to repackage these impulses into video. I’ll let you know what I come up with when I get that on its feet if I’m able to.
