No, the same thing that's ruining comedy is the same thing that's ruining everything else. Everyone has to constantly share all the intimate details of their life in dramatic fashion on social media.
I don't disagree with your overall premise. I just see social media attention as a larger thing, infecting everything. Everything. I'm talking about Tom Segura ranting on social media.
I think if you want to point to something that's the ultimate culprit it would have to be stuff like consolidation of weath, regulatory capture, and fascist-leaning right-wing propaganda that is paid for by and perpetuates wealth consolidation and regulatory capture. Capitalism needs cruelty. Yes, social media is part of the picture because that's part of the way they breed cruelty, but it's not the ultimate driver. The driver, as always, is just money. In large part, oil money, which can no longer deny, even to the most dense of people on the street, the reality of climate. You're not wrong about social media, but to say it's responsible is to stop climbing the ladder before the top.

This is a 2009 observation.
Yeah, well, it's still true.

Yes! I subscribed. I'll share. But I probably won't watch, I prefer to critique my own comedy tastes. 😜
